New Haven Sushi Delivery

Let me start by saying this might be the most important article ever written—at least for anyone who, like me, becomes a danger to their bank account the moment the dining hall doesn’t cut it. Sometimes I treat myself because I aced an exam, sometimes because I bombed one, and sometimes for absolutely no reason other than, well, sushi. When I say “treat,” I mean I go all out. I scroll through Uber Eats and DoorDash the way other people scroll through Instagram, and I’m pretty sure my screen time on both is just as shameful.
No, I’m not a professional food critic, but I would consider myself somewhat of a sushi connoisseur, and thus am more than qualified to present you with this list. So print it, memorize it, tape it to your wall, and thank me later.
Sayori Sushi
Best Everything | $$+ | 45-70 min
In my humble opinion, Sayori is the best take-out sushi spot in New Haven. Yes, it is sort of pricey for NH, but can you really put a price on great sushi? Rolls are perfectly balanced, large fish to rice ratio, quality is super fresh, and the menu is very creative. That said, the delivery can be slow and occasionally items are missing—but even this can’t deter me. It's just that good.

Hachiroku HandRoll Bar (for delivery)
Great SIT-DOWN Restaurant| $$$ | 40-50 min
I LOVE all the Hachiroku establishments for dine-in. But delivery? Very limited menu, overpriced, and sadly disappointing. I am bummed but my wallet isn't. Save this one for a sit-down night.
Fin and Scale
Kosher, Yummy, Small Menu | $$$ | 30-40 min
Great if you keep Kosher or want something a little different. Limited options and expensive, but what they do have is quite tasty.
Miso Japanese
Mid Quality, High Price | $$$ | 25-35 min
Better than a lot of spots—but not $20+ for a special roll good. They also seem to be weirdly always sold out of stuff on Uber Eats… Not a bad option, just not worth it in my opinion. I know it's a well loved spot, so I will of course be back for research purposes.
Wasabi Sushi
Not a bad option | $$ | 40-50 min
This sushi was not bad by any means. Quality was good and fully satisfied my craving. The fish to rice ratio was not great and it wasn't anything to write home about. It is pretty reasonably priced, however, so I would check it out if you aren’t too much of a sushi snob.
Tomo 68
Mid everything | $$ | 45-60 min
This is honestly not terrible sushi but I left feeling very unsatisfied that I spent my money on something so mid. Everything felt really oily and not clean in flavor like sushi should. I felt sluggish but maybe that's just my one bad experience ??
Anaya Sushi
Cheap & Snackpass-able | $ | 20-30 min
This is your budget sushi spot. Nothing special, definitely not “crafted with love,” but it hits the craving and your wallet will thank you. Huge menu, solid deals, don’t expect quality anything.
Mizu
Would Rather Have Yale Dining Sushi | $ | 20-30 min
Rolls fall apart, rice is sad, taste is meh. But if you’re desperate for variety and you don’t care about quality—I won’t judge.
* Still Need to Try
Kumo Sushi – My hopes are low based on the pics and that it’s known for NH hibachi, but I’ll try it for the sake of journalism…
Roishi – Mostly a ramen spot but quite an extensive sushi menu… maybe promising?
** Bonus Recs (Non-Delivery)
Otaru – The best sushi in NH. Period. Doesn’t deliver, might do takeout, but PLEASE GO. On par with sushi I had in Japan.
Pro tip: Do the omakase if you’re lucky enough to have someone else paying. It’s heavenly.
Someone please take me back. I’m getting emotional.
The Loop Market by Hachiroku – Also not delivery, but YUM. GET THE ONIGIRI. If you need convincing, read my other article.
Pokémoto – Not the best poke ever, but best in NH. Not mind-blowing, but it gets the job done and doesn’t sketch me out. Satisfying and speedy.
*** Final PSA
If you’ve ever been so down bad that you bought sushi from GHeav late at night…I need to know: are you okay? Was it edible? I’ve never been brave enough, but I do often crave late-night sushi…I need answers.
